Welcome to the Mansel Arms Cask Ale Club page on the
website.
As far as we are aware we are the only Cask Ale or Real Ale
Club that is attached to a pub in the UK. There are a few around linked to
particular breweries but as I said the only one linked to a pub.
We are now in our second year of existence and last year
managed to attract some 70 members to join us. We charge a relatively small
membership fee of £20.00 but give you back £15.00 worth of beer vouchers that
you can exchange over the bar as part payment for your beer.
We also organise regular meetings, some we hold in-house and
invite a brewer from a local brewery to come and speak with us about an aspect
of brewing that usually ends up in a tasting session. Some of our meetings are
visits to breweries that supply the Mansel again ending up having a ‘tasting’
experience. Last year, we visited breweries in Cornwall on a weekend trip. This
year we are hoping to get to Shrewsbury in late September.
Glynn and Gemma, as the landlord and landlady of the Mansel
Arms are very supportive of the Club. Jointly, we organised Spring and Winter
beer festivals last year. These proved to be very popular with the members. We
hope to repeat the Winter festival this year again hopefully towards the end of
November.
To date, over 200 different cask ales have been pulled
through the six handpumps on the bar. Glynn caters for all tastes and we have
been successful in changing a number of diehard keg beer drinker to real ale. I
can also say the prices charged are very reasonable.
I hope this gives you a flavour of the Club. If you are a
real ale drinker it is the place to come to. We look forward to seeing you here
